Moab Area Information

Moab lies in the heart of Southeastern Utah's great Colorado Plateau. It sits on the banks of the Colorado River and is nestled in a valley with precipitous red-rock cliffs on both sides. Surrounded by rugged and beautiful terrain with predominantly desert features, Moab has an elevation of approximately 4,000 feet. Daytime temperatures in August / September hover in the 90’s but can go higher in the late afternoon, cooling considerably at night. Some 18 miles east of Moab, the La Sal Mountains, which rise to over 13,000 feet, offer a delightful contrast to the austerity of the desert. Dotted with meadows, lakes, and streams the La Sal Forest is composed of pine, spruce, fir, and aspen trees.
