Event Description:

Hikers, don your sunscreen and journey to a majestic spot in a magnificent secluded canyon ideal for acoustic music. There you’ll take in music from Bach to Corigliano played by the master string players of MMF 2020.  These scenic hikes, among our most popular events, offer unparalleled musical intimacy and engagement with the artists. Patrons are shuttled to an undisclosed location. A Canyonlands Field Institute naturalist familiarizes hikers with the terrain and leads the way to the scenic concert location. Hike Level: Moderate, approximately 2 miles round trip.

This concert is in the spirit of Dr. Thomas G. Stockham, Jr. He is internationally recognized as the Father of Digital Recording. His greatest passion was spending copious time in the deserts of Southern Utah where solitude created uninterrupted time for his discovery of acoustically perfect alcoves where he shared his love of classical music with his family, friends, and the landscape.
